The Arts Center will host ongoing demonstrations of the art and science of glass blowing. Visitors will watch as glass artists play with fire to melt silicon, color it and blow the molten glass into goblets, vases, pitchers and other objects. School children will take part in the creative process by helping the artists design pieces while at the same time learning about the chemistry of glass. This exhibit features the work of Dale Chihuly, a world famous glass artisan. Chihuly and his studio assistants have created these spectacular, large-scale glass sculptures specifically for St. Petersburg's Museum of Fine Arts. Kids ages 5-11 can experience life in Pinellas County’s past during this exciting two-week program that features a fun and engaging journey into Florida’s local history from the 1840s to the 1940s. This quaint town on Boca Ciega Bay celebrates the little lizards known as Geckos with a family festival and parade complete with fireworks. The Turkey Trot celebrates its 26th anniversary with an anticipated 10,000 runners trotting through Clearwater. The event features a one-mile "Gobbler" run, 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) "Wingding" and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) "Turkey Trot."
