Memories of Maas Brothers

Maas Brothers department stores, a Florida fixture for more than 100 years before closing in 1991, is celebrated with an exhibit at Florida International Museum. The exhibit features photographs from the collection of former Maas Brothers' employees. The museum occupies the location of the former Maas Brothers downtown St. Petersburg store. Little Luxuries: Antique Baby Rattles and Teethers

The tradition of teethers and rattles for babies is as old as humankind. During the Enlightenment and particularly in the nineteenth century, as the child had a more honored place in society, the variety and types of rattles increased in Europe and the United States. This exhibition contains a variety of rattles from a period of approximately three hundred years and in a range of materials, including gold, silver, tin, ivory, coral, and crystal. Dream Revelations

The works of internationally known artists Felipe Packard and Ricardo de la Vega, both of Gulfport, FL, are featured in the exhibit entitled "Dream Revelations" at the Florida International Museum. Their work is on display in conjunction with the collection of neo-surrealist Mexican painter Enrique Chavarria. Robert Doisneau Exhibit

This exhibition displays works by the twentieth-century French photographer Robert Doisneau. It consists of a portfolio of fifteen photographic prints by this famous photographer, which have rarely been displayed as a group. The Mystique of the Motorcycle

This exhibition features almost 100 motorcycles representing 32 manufacturers from the world-class collection of Trev Deeley, a motorcycle racer, owner of Canada's first Harley-Davidson dealership and holder of the only Harley-Davidson franchise in Canada. The bikes date from the turn-of-the-century to the modern day. Headliners include the best of show from manufacturers worldwide, including Triumph, BSA, Honda, Harley Davidson, Indian and Moto Guzzi.

St. Petersburg 300/100 Anniversary Celebration Exhibit

St. Petersburg, Russia, St. Petersburg, Florida: Namesake Cities celebrates both cities' important anniversaries. St. Petersburg, Russia is commemorating the 300th anniversary of its founding by Peter the Great in 1703 and St. Petersburg, FLorida is celebrating the centennial of its incorporation as a city in 1903. The exhibit highlights the many astounding parallels and differences between the two cities and their founders through panels, exhibit cases with artifacts from both Russia and Florida and a video. H.M.S. Bounty

The 169-foot replica of the 18-century British naval vessel will dock at the Pier and be available for tours, day cruises and a six-day sail to the Dry Tortugas. The vessel was built in 1960 for MGM to use in the first remake of the film "Mutiny on the Bounty." The ship's wheel is somewhat historic, being the same one used in the original 1935 production that featured Charles Laughton in the role of Captain Bligh opposite Clark Gable's Fletcher Christian. Public Tours of the Fort Harrison

In celebration of 76 years as a operational hotel in the heart of Clearwater, the Fort Harrison is open daily, from 11 - 5 pm for tours of this historic building. Joan Miro: The Shape of Color Painted Sculpture

The exhibition covers the period from the late 1960s onward. These playful sculptures took their point of departure in found objects, which were cast in bronze and later painted bright colors. Dali and Miro, circa 1928

This exhibit is a companion to the Shape of Color that draws parallels between the two Surrealists and fellow Catalans. It features five works by Dali from the museum's collection from 1928, the year before Dali joined the Surrealist movement. Florida Goes to War: Florida in WW II

This exhibit traces the impact of World War II on the state of Florida. Scheduled to coincide with a “World War II Salute” at the Village on March 22, the exhibit details military and civilian life in the “Sunshine State” during World War II. Included in the “Florida Goes to War” exhibit are images of soldiers, sailors, and airmen training in parks and on beaches, as well as women working at the USO and as welders and mechanics.
