Science Center Family Day Festival
The Science Center's Annual Family Festival Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General Admission is free. The festivities include the grand opening of the new 600-gallon Marine Science Touch Tank, the tours of the 16th Century Indian Village, a dental health fair, clowns, exhibits, laser shows, planetarium shows, concessions, archaeological demonstrations and much more. Amoco Legends of Baseball Game
The Major Leage Baseball Players Alumni Association will be hosting Amoco Legends of Baseball Game. 2002 FESTIVAL of BASEBALL
This annual event features the "Swing with the Legends Golf Classic at Pasadena Yacht & Country Club, the "Baseball for Kids" Dinner & Auction at TradeWinds Island Resort, and the "Legends for Youth" Baseball Clinic, "Home Run Derby" and "Legends of Baseball" game all at Florida Power Park. Spring on the Flats fishing tournament
Proceeds from this catch and release tournament go to the Pinellas County Environmental Foundation (PCEF). The PCEF grant program benefits Tampa Bay and its watershed, including such projects as sea grass restoration, water quality improvements and environmental education. The two-day event begins with a Captain’s Meeting and Pairings Party at the tournament headquarters, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort. The tournament runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the fishing area includes Tampa Bay, its tributaries and the Gulf of Mexico. Participating anglers compete for a Grandslam or Super Grandslam title and prizes by catching and releasing snook, redfish, trout and tarpon. For more information, call 404-679-7099.

U2: The Spy Plane at the Florida International Museum
The Florida International Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate, features this collection of historical and personal artifacts associated with the U-2 incident of May 1960 in which Francis Gary Powers was shot down over the Soviet Union while flying for the CIA in a U-2 spy plane. These artifacts are on loan from the Cold War Museum and Francis Gary Powers, Jr. and include a piece of Powers’ U-2 plane, personal correspondence from prison, and items associated with the U-2 program. The U-2 Incident exhibit has been displayed internationally and this showing will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Power’s release from prison, which took place on February 10, 1962. The museum also features an exhibit on the Cuban Missle Crisis and a permanent collection of John F. Kennedy memorabilia. For more information, call 727-822-3693.

American Stage presents Uncle Bends
Bob Devin Jones, director of 2001's moving hit "From the Mississippi Delta," performs his original one-man show about rescuing stereotypes and embracing heritage. Major League Baseball Spring Training
Pinellas County has an 85-year history of spring training and is the only place where a Major League teams trains in its own regular-season city. The area features the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in St. Petersburg, the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin and the New York Yankees in nearby Tampa. There are also 10 other teams within a 2-hour drive. Tampa Bay Tour of Turtles
Modeled after successful public art exhibits in Chicago, New York, New Orleans and Cincinnati, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is sponsoring this festival honoring area artists and endangered species. The project features the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle as its theme icon. Nearly 100 six-foot sea turtle statues will be on display throughout the region. In April, all turtles will be auctioned off with portions of the proceeds going to area non-profit organizations. Artists range from Peter Max to Sunset Sam, the Aquarium's painting dolphin. One sea turtle statue has been painted to resemble an American flag. The beneficiaries of the auction will be families of the firefighters and police of New York City who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Florida International Museum Salutes Queen Elizabeth on her Golden Jubilee
In honor of Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee, the Florida International Museum will salute her with a display that includes memorabilia dating back to 1837 and the reign of Queen Victoria. The museum is open year round, seven days a week. Monday through Saturday, the hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Last entry to the museum is at 4 p.m. daily.
