Southern Region Little League Baseball

The City of Gulfport hosts this annual Little League World Series for the southern region. Games begin Sunday with opening ceremonies at 1 p.m. Come watch your Florida team as they compete against teams from the Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, West Virginia and Georgia. Gulf Coast Museum of Art: STUDIOWORKS 2002

Ray Azcuy: New Works

Cuban artist Ray Azcuy will premier his first solo exhibition at the Arts Center. The exhibit features six large installations from a series of everyday symbols. In 2001, he received a fellowship from the South Florida Cultural Consortium and has won numerous awards for his work as an artist and in arts education. For more information, call 727-822-7872.

Urban Legends/Bucolic Dreams

More than 200 artists submitted work for this annual members exhibition. Artists were asked to create a personal interpretation of the theme. Cubism 2002

The Youth Arts Corps inspires people to realize their unique potential through art education and a positive development philosophy. The artwork for this exhibit resulted from a recent workshop at the Dali Museum. Students were asked to respond with drawings and sculpture to the Dali exhibition, Forms of Cubism. Ray Azcuy: Investigating Freedom

This exhibit is a series of new assemblages by Cuban-American artist Azcuy, which respond to the conceptual framework of freedom, its definition and its reinterpretation. Turtle Walks

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium organizes one-hour educational walks with a Marine Biologist touring the nesting beaches of Florida's Beach area. Tours are offered on Tuesday and Saturday mornings at 11 a.m., and Friday evenings at 6 p.m. The tours are free but advance reservations are required. Ahoy Maitz

This Florida International Museum exhibition of original artwork by Don Maitz presents the Golden Age of Piracy through facts and imagination. More than fifty works are displayed using oil paint, acrylic, pen, ink, watercolor and pencil. As the original and continuing artist of the popular Captain Morgan Spiced Rum character, Maitz has produced fourteen paintings of the character in the red suit. Forms of Cubism: Sculpture and the Avante-Garde

Webb's City: A Community Remembers

This exhibit will revisit the circus-like atmosphere of the store that grew to be a $30 million retail complex that covered several city blocks, selling everything from groceries to men's clothes. The exhibit will explore Webb's City years of dynamic, energetic ideas and hoopla, such as talking mermaids and chickens and chimp acts, that helped draw an average of 60,000 customers a day.
