Webb's City: A Community Remembers
This exhibit will revisit the circus-like atmosphere of the store that grew to be a $30 million retail complex that covered several city blocks, selling everything from groceries to men's clothes. The exhibit will explore Webb's City years of dynamic, energetic ideas and hoopla, such as talking mermaids and chickens and chimp acts, that helped draw an average of 60,000 customers a day. The Florida Craftsmen Gallery kicks of the celebration of the organization's 50th anniversary with Past Perfect/Present Tense, a curated exhibition featuring winners from the historical, Statewide Florida Craftsmen Annual Exhibitions. Time Magazine's 'Person of the Year at 75' is a multimedia exhibit recognizing those who have had an enormous impact on the course of history. 2002 marks the 75th anniversary of TIME's Person of the Year tradition.
