Forms of Cubism: Sculpture and the Avante-Garde

This exhibit will feature sculpture and related drawings by early masters of Cubism: Lipschitz, Zadkine, Picasso, Braque, Gaudier-Brezka, Brancusi, Laurens and Archipenko. Smithsonian Kids Bridge asks school children, "What's in Your Head?" At the Kids Bridge booth, children can draw their friend's silhouette and add drawings of their own thoughts. Webb's City: A Community Remembers

This exhibit will revisit the circus-like atmosphere of the store that grew to be a $30 million retail complex that covered several city blocks, selling everything from groceries to men's clothes. The exhibit will explore Webb's City years of dynamic, energetic ideas and hoopla, such as talking mermaids and chickens and chimp acts, that helped draw an average of 60,000 customers a day.
