Habana Esperando at the Florida International Museum
2/23/2001 - 9/4/2001
The Florida International Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate, features this collection of 24 color photographs by Margaux Ravis, a television commercial producer and adventurer, portraying arresting images of modern Havana, Cuba. The verb "esperar" means both ‘to wait’ and ‘to hope’ in Spanish and Ravis has captured this striking duality with her photography. All photos are shot in panoramic format and represent the joy and the longing that she encountered in Havana. The museum also features an exhibit on the Cuban Missle Crisis and a permanent collection of John F. Kennedy memorabilia. For more information, call 727-822-3693.
