Terrific Tots Tuesdays

Great Explorations offers a special time for parents and children 1 to 3 years old every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Playtime consists of exclusive sessions of interaction between child and parent/guardian through such activities as music, arts & crafts, literature, and exercise. Cost for museum members is $35 per month. Cost for non-members is $40 per month. Sessions are limited to 15 registrants per week. Advanced registration is required. Offshore Super Series Race

The race will include representation of some of the largest and fastest powerboats including OSS Cat, OSS Cat Lite, OSS Vee, and OSS Vee Lite. Traveling up to 130 mph, large powerboats will leave out of the Vinoy Basin and juggle the waves in front of the St. Petersburg Pier. Hosted by the St. Petersburg Offshore Super Series, Inc., a non profit organization, the race event will benefit the Pinellas Education Foundation, Everyone’s Youth United and the Friendship Trail. Times Turkey Trot

The Turkey Trot celebrates its 27th anniversary with an anticipated 10,000 runners trotting through Clearwater. The event features a one-mile "Gobbler" run, 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) "Wingding" and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) "Turkey Trot." Proceeds from the St. Petersburg Times Turkey Trot will be donated to many local charities. Runners are welcome to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items in the stadium on race day. Bayou Lighted Boat Parade

This evening lighted boat parade starts at 4 p.m. at the Sponge Docks and proceeds around Whitcomb Bayou to Spring Bayou where there will be caroling at Craig Park. For more information, call 727-942-5628.

Outback Bowl Beach Day

This free event features performances and competitions by team bands and cheerleaders as well as a pre-football meeting of the players and coaches who will be facing each other in the New Year's Day bowl game. This beachside pep rally includes live music, skydivers, a tug-of-war and other contests from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort. For more information, call 727-461-3222.

Outback Bowl

One of the premier college football bowl games and the first bowl game of New Year's Day, the Outback Bowl features two of the nation's top teams from the Big 10 and SEC plus national television coverage. The game is played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. A week-long series of events precede the big game including the Bowl Beach Day. Fun 'N Sun Festival
