Major League Baseball Spring Training

The St. Petersburg/Clearwater area has a 90-year history of spring training and is the only place where a Major League teams trains in its own regular-season city. The area features the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in St. Petersburg, the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin and the New York Yankees in nearby Tampa. There are also 10 other teams within a 2-hour drive. Sixth Annual Cajun/Zydeco Crawfish Festival

Laissez les bon temps roulet! Louisiana comes to St. Petersburg for this tasty treat of a festival. Live music fills the air and 10,000 pounds of crawfish jambalaya, etouffe, funnel cakes and assorted Cajun cuisine will fill the festival attendees. Entertainment will include Geno Delafose & French Rockin Boogie, Roy Carrier & The Night Rockers, Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys, Kevin Naquin and The Ossun Playboys, The Porchdogs and Bousoleil Avec Michael Doucet! The festival will be held under a 20,000 sq. ft. pavilion and will include a kid's tent for families. Admission is $10 per day or $25 for a three-day pass. Children 10 and under are admitted free. On Saturday, the Bayfront Health and Fitness Expo will feature expert speakers on orthopedics, sports medicine and sports nutrition. On Sunday, the 12K race will begin at Park Street at the Treasure Island Causeway and end at the Pier. The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg returns March 31 ? April 2, 2006, with the famed IndyCar Series auto racing, Infiniti Pro Series, SCCA World Speed Challenge, stunt plane airshows, concerts, celebrities and more. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN. It is the second running of the event and the only street-circuit race in the IndyCar Series. Drivers will race at speeds in excess of 170 mph along a 14-turn, 1.8-mile temporary circuit that runs through the streets of St. Petersburg and through the Albert Whitted Airport, overlooking the picturesque St. Petersburg waterfront. This is a one-of-a-kind event for the Tampa Bay area and the entire southeast United States. This three day music festival, now in its 10th year, features a tropical atmosphere, spectacular blues music and multiple food vendors. A three day pass is $50. The Turkey Trot celebrates its 27th anniversary with an anticipated 10,000 runners trotting through Clearwater. The event features a one-mile "Gobbler" run, 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) "Wingding" and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) "Turkey Trot." Proceeds from the St. Petersburg Times Turkey Trot will be donated to many local charities. Runners are welcome to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items in the stadium on race day.
