Week-Long Stay - Day 5
Travel back in time today with a look at
some of the area's famous historical sights. Across the Bay near downtown
Tampa is the Henry Plant Museum located on the campus of the University of
Tampa in what was once the elegant Tampa Bay Hotel. It's oriental architecture
and minarets are a true area landmark.
You may want to lunch in one of the noted south Tampa bistros. Continue east
past downtown and you'll come to Ybor City - a National Historic Landmark
District that was once the "Cigar Capital of the World." You can
easily spend the day here, visiting the historic cottages and museums. Stroll
down La Setima (7th Avenue) in the heart of Ybor
City, with galleries, and unique retail shops.
You'll find lots of choices for dinner, with more than two dozen dining and
dancing establishments. And in the evening, Centro Ybor is the hottest spot
around!
