Home About the Area View ipix Belleair Belleair is a busy, growing community with a unique sense of civic pride. Part of Belleair's uncommon personality lies in its brief but colorful history. In the 1890s, railroad magnate Henry B. Plant constructed the Belleview Biltmore Hotel in what is now known as Belleair. The hotel, one of the largest wooden structures in the world, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area was incorporated in 1923 and is one of the smallest cities in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. It consists of two square miles between the intracoastal waterway, Clearwater and Largo. Belleair has 4,114 residents including professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, and has one of the most successful recycling programs in the area.
