The Florida Green Lodging Program recognizes and rewards environmentally conscientious lodging facilities in the state. It was established in 2004 by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and is unique in that it covers an all-inclusive list of environmental initiatives that are specific to Florida.
To be designated a member of the Florida Green Lodging Program hotels must implement a variety of green practices, including water conservation measures, energy efficiency, waste reduction, the use of green cleaners and other conservation measures.
St. Pete/Clearwater Green Lodging
Want to stay green when you are in the St. Pete/Clearwater area? Several favorite local resorts have recently been awarded a Green Lodging Certification in recognition of their efforts to protect the area's natural resources.
Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown St. Petersburg
The Hampton Inn & Suites proved its commitment to the environment by being designated into the Green Lodging Program on January 8, 2008. Working diligently over the past year, the Sirata has put in place many programs to preserve and protect the natural resources through extensive upgrades of equipment and various conservation programs. The Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club
This historic waterfront resort, which is consistently named one of the Top 30 "Best in The World" of North American Resorts in Conde Nast Traveler Magazine was welcomed to the Florida Green Lodging Program on December 14, 2007.
