Being surrounded by water has its advantages. The Florida’s Beach area is a haven for all things fishing because there’s so much of it going on all over the area.
No matter where you turn, off bridges and beaches, along creeks and bays and lagoons, you’ll find somebody with a line in the water. Watch for a minute or two and you’ll likely see a catch being made.
There are freshwater lakes and saltwater shores. You’ll see rod’n’reel, net casting and trap setting. All done by novices and experts alike. A wealth of different species are abundantly available in our waters.
One of the area’s top spots sits in the shadows of a preeminent landmark, within splashing distance of the signature, golden-ribbed Sunshine Skyway. The Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is called “the world’s longest fishing pier.” It juts into the mouth of Tampa Bay from southern St. Petersburg, itself a remnant of the old “Skyway” bridge. With supplies, snacks, bait and restrooms, it’s got everything you need.
No big boat? No problem. Just drop a line along Florida’s Beach. Chances are high that you won’t be alone.
For fishing license information, call the County Office at 562-3262.
