Florida and the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area have a rich history in film making. Beginning with the creation of silent films at the turn of the century, when Florida was nicknamed "The Winter Film Capital of the World", to more recent blockbusters like Ocean's Eleven filmed in St. Petersburg.
