The "Old" Gandy Bridge spanning Tampa Bay north of St. Petersburg has undergone a $7 million transformation into a recreational park called the Friendship Trail Bridge. Directions from the west: From I-275 in St. Petersburg: "old" Exit 15/now Exit 28 to Gandy Blvd. - US Hwy 92, east to Gandy Bridge. See a small brown "Friendship TrailBridge" sign prior to going onto the bridge, directing you to turn left or north to a short approach to the parking lot at the west end of the bridge.

This is an outdoor lounge under the arms of an ancient banyan tree in the heart of down town St. Petersburg. It offers live jazz every weekend featuring the Buster Cooper Quartet. Cooper has played with jazz legends such as Duke Ellington and Josephine Baker.
