Take the ferry from Honeymoon Island or tie up your own boat at the docks. This pristine Florida State Park has "Old Florida" undeveloped shoreline appeal, one of the last undeveloped barrier islands in Florida. Caladesi is only accessible by boat. Caladesi Island State Park is ideal for swimming, shelling, fishing, picnics, and nature study. The park also has a three-mile nature trail winding through the island?s interior. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset. A ferry departs hourly from nearby Honeymoon Island.

The beach at Fort De Soto was ranked as America's Best Beach for 2005. It is the largest county park in the area, with 1,136 acres on five interconnected islands located at the tip of Pinellas County in Tierra Verde. Acquired on October 4, 1978, its 1.5 acres offer 450 feet of beach on the Gulf of Mexico. This park was officially opened to the public on May 26, 1983. It is the first park developed by Pinellas County to be operated and maintained by a municipality. This was made possible by an intergovernmental agreement signed January 25, 1983. The facilities offered by this beach access park include parking for 104 vehicles, a restroom, and two showers located on the beach.
